Episode 46: The Middle Way

As a third creative exercise, you can repeat the practice by creating another little doodle art abstract.  Only this time, use both colors; the original and its complement in the same drawing.  See how they work together, make each other pop, or stand out. Then mix the two opposites together and see a new color emerge.  I call these mixtures “earth tones.” My super sound sensors tune into the middle grays created by the complements. The middle has such balance, don’t you think?  It adds depth to the Daily Doodle.

As your Joy Coach, I’ve learned to keep creating little images with both color complements.  It’s so much fun.  And, painting with color complements helps me stay balanced when I’m aware of difficult issues. It doesn’t make the problem go away.  But I experience joy and a softened perspective about life, giving me the space to explore and grow in a non-verbal way.  I let go of words. I feel refreshed by the energy of both colors, of the colors mixed together, and of all the colors I work and play with.

What do you see and feel when working with two complementary colors?  How do you feel when you’ve finished your creative exercise?
