Episode 45: But Wait, There’s More!

There is a second part to working with color as a meditation and focusing on an issue that’s bothering me. In the previous episode, I picked blue from the Timeless Twelve Step Rainbow Clock.  Now, let’s repeat the process.  Only this time, we’ll take the color on the clock that is exactly opposite from the color first chosen. In Western “art speak’ the color opposite blue on the Timeless Twelve Step Rainbow Clock is called its complement. For example, with blue, we would look at the clock and see that orange is opposite blue.  So, you would repeat the Daily Doodle process using various shades of orange. It’s like allowing yourself to experience an opposite point of view from the one you just had…. only “golly gee, it’s just the energy of another beautiful color you are allowing yourself to experience.”

We live in such a polarized society and world.  I’ve spent a lot of time trying to reconcile how there could be so much beauty and joy in the world, and so much violence and suffering. All my thinking, reading, talking with others has been helpful, but the answers, if there are any great and final solutions, still lurk somewhere beyond comprehension. So, I sit in Stillness, Silence, and Spaciousness, and I turn to the energy of color. What if we were able to see all the people or situations that trouble us, as beautiful colors, as just the energy of beautiful colors?  Wouldn’t that be amazing!

So, would you like to try creating another doodle drawing and painting it in the opposite color?  If you do, remember to allow yourself to be absorbed in the energy of the color you are working with.
