The first meditation practice I learned was called the Three Precious Pills practice, the three precious pills being Stillness, Silence and Spaciousness. That’s what I’m doing here. I’m taking the first precious pill–stilling my body and mind.
It seemed like it took me forever to learn to quiet my body. My chattering mind would get in the way of my being aware of my body–so many thoughts moving about. Once I recognized that I needed to start by paying attention to my body, I began to focus on Stillness. Sometimes I felt fidgety and restless. Still do sometimes. But with daily practice, as I sit with myself, gradually my body becomes calm and my mind relaxes more. The precious pill of Stillness works–no doctor’s prescriptions, no drugstores, and it’s free..
Would you like to sit in Stillness for just five minutes? Try it.
