Episode 27: Where to Start, Find a Quiet Place

Is it difficult for you to find a quiet place to sit where you will not be distracted by your cell phone, your laptop, your tablet, or your friends and family?  It was for me when I first started meditating, I was a bit timid about asking to be left alone and I had to search for a place in the house that was not trafficked. I didn’t want to inconvenience family members. I also felt a bit awkward about making a statement that I needed to sit with myself.  I got over it.

I’ve learned now that in just about any place I can sit quietly, even noisy places, although in some places it’s far easier to sit quietly than in others. Here I’m showing two places where I routinely sit as the seasons pass. Often I sit “outside” in summer when the weather is nice.  Or, if it’s buggy, I sit next to an open screened door or window. In the winter, I sit inside, again often next to a window where I am reminded of the breath of life that surrounds me.

Where do you sit when you need to be quiet and be with yourself? Have you found a special place for yourself?
