Episode 21: My Heart Feels Broken

Even as a Joy Coach, there are times when I wonder: How could my heart possibly be whole, be unified, when I feel so much sadness and distress about the conditions arising on Earth now–climate change, divisiveness, violence, and the war in Ukraine, the pandemic we have recently experienced. The sadness doesn’t seem to go away. So I continue to sit and focus on my breathing with the intention to soften how I perceive and meet pain.  Balancing suffering and loss with the inner strength of the heart is not easy. Meditation, being with others, connecting with nature, expressing what I’m learning–all are ways that bring me joy and help me to stay balanced.  In some of the episodes to come, I’ll be exploring a simple meditation technique.

Question: How do you balance pain and fear, particularly, fear of loss?
